KG: Still the NBA's best interview

While KG is no longer the all-weather force he once was on the court, it is hard to think of any better interview in the NBA (especially with Shaq gone). Here is his postgame interview with Craig Sager after Boston's big comeback win against the Magic:

And here are a few of his other great moments behind the mic:

NBA Holiday Redux

With the new NBA season underway hope spring eternal for a lot of teams. Two weeks have gone by and we have some early season observations for a host of teams:

  • Are the Lakers done? Hardly, but the days of them being the favorites out West are done. They are going to need a herculean effort out of Andrew Bynum in order to compete. At 29 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks (on 71% shooting from the field)  per game, things look encouraging.
  • Don't crown the Clippers just yet. Chris Paul is still feeling his way through his new toys and doesn't look to be as in control of the team as we are used to seeing. Blake Griffin is a legitimate top 15 player. His offensive game is ever improving and he's already terrific on the glass.
  • Kevin Durant has got to be early season front runner for the MVP award. Leads the league in scoring, and has one filthy game-winner. He can flat out get a shot up against anybody(with the exemption of maybe Lebron).
  • My darkhorse for feel good team of the year is the Minnesota Timberwolves. A core of a very legit (albeit non-scoring) Ricky Rubio and do-it-all Kevin Love is fun to watch. This is the real Lob City. Will somebody on YouTube please document all of his assists and broadcast them to the masses?
  • The Warriors are as enigmatic as ever. Wins against two of the East's top teams and a blowout loss to the 76ers? Really? When they are healthy I honestly think they can play with anybody and Brandon Rush has been a very nice surprise. The Warriors are a fringe 7-8 seed at best, but hey, at least they are trying to play defense.
  • Where will Dwight Howard end up at the end of the season? My money is on New Jersey. I have a hard time thinking the Lakers can pry him from the Magic with Bynum + throwaways.
  • Last but not least, the Heat look unstoppable. They've put together some fantastic stretches of suffocating defense and something that can only be described as blitzkrieg on offense. The more they play together the longer these stretches become. I don't see anyone beating them 4 times in the playoffs right now.

Let There be Basketball.
